Imam Tirmidhī rahimahullah establishes a chapter titled “Chapter in Regards to Abhorrence of Lying, Falsification etc.” in his monumental “Sunan”. Under this chapter Imām Tirmidhī rahimahullah mentions the following hadīth:

It is reported on the authority of Anas radiallahu anhu from Nabī salallahu ῾alayhi wasallam with regards to “Major sins” that He (salallahu ῾alayhi wasallam) said, “(The major sins are) Assigning partners to Allah, disobedience of parents, killing a soul and false statement.”

The inner feelings and conditions of every human being vary from time to time. Sometimes one feels very happy and excited while at other times one feels sad and unpleasant.  This is part of life.  This should not cause one to lose hope and become despondent.

The Tongue is an Amaanat (Trust)

One does not own one’s tongue thereby warranting one the ability to use it as one wishes. Instead, it is an amaanat (trust). Therefore, it should be occupied in those deeds for which it was bestowed i.e. zikr and tilaawat of the Qur’aan etc. and one should avoid engaging it in improper actions like back-biting and carrying tales etc. 

Different Rulings- What Should One Do?

Question:

We, the general massess often get confused with the different rulings from different Ulama. What should we do? For example, regarding one of my questions, one Alim said its Halaal and the other said its Haraam. Is there any criteria in Shariah for our guidance in such situations?

Establishing a Sunnat through a da`eef (weak) narration

A  sunnat  can  be  established  through  a  da῾īf hadīth.  However  to establish a sunnat mu’akkadah (emphasised sunnat) one will need a qawī (strong) narration.

Hadhrat then said, “I had a copy of Sifr-us-Sa῾ādah. I recorded in its footnotes all those ahādīth through which sunnats are established.
